Bright Start

Don't you just love it when little kids or anybody
makes the mistake of greeting you with a cheery:

"Good Morning!"

When it's already 6pm in the evening?
It might be a habit
when they meet someone for the first time that day
or they just got up from a nap.

Regardless,
it just brightens the rest of your day
and makes you ready to start anew
at whatever task lies ahead of.

Their beautiful smile,
twinkling eyes,
and light step...
make you want to stretch out your arms,
maybe sing or dance a little happy jig,
and jump right into your work.

Is it just me?

Happy Tuesday!

Ruining

http://fairfaxparks.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/hidden-pond-duckweed-3.jpg

One bright, but cool evening, Asis, Jsis, another friend, her 6yo brother, and I were sitting on the dock situated in a small pond, being mesmerized by the almost-still duckweed on the glass-life surface.

No squawking fowl or buzzing insects interrupted the calm silence.

It was like a movie scene, the ambiance perfectly intoxicating and gorgeous.

Total peace reigned in the pond.

Out of the blue - 6yo brother in a sort of whiny tone:
I'm bored.  I want to go home.

All us girls:
[BOY'S NAME] YOU RUINED THE MOMENT!!

Boy all matter-of-fact-ly:
I know.  I pooped the party.

And of course, we all joined in side-splitting laughter
and probably scared a bunch of critters out of their hides and exoskeletons.

Little kids are so cute and funny.

Hairs Cut

I've never liked hair cuts...
on guys or gals.
But I got one yesterday
and I feel like I've been shaved
And yes, I was shaved a couple times
as an infant.
It's a lot lighter now
(because my hair is thick
individually and generally)
...
but
...
it's GONE!
And for some reason,
in the past few weeks,
all my little boys
 (I call them "mine",
but they're just little kids from Sunday School)
have gotten haircuts!
It's very traumatizing.

Please tell me I'm not the only one!

Of course, in a couple weeks,
I will be so accustomed to the new looks,
I won't remember the old looks.

Ahhh... such is life...

Davy Keith

I am thoroughly convinced my sister teaches piano to an Asian Davy Keith in the living flesh.

(^^An Anne of Avonlea reference; go read the series by LMMontgomery).

Seriously, the kid's mind goes through routes an adult's would never be able to find its way out of.  He is so cute, hilarious, innocent, impetuous, dear, and adorable.

I want to raise kids like him...
